A slew of birthdays
Thanks to everyone for your birthday wishes! I can't believe how fast the years are starting to go by. I'm glad I'm feeling the sand slip through the hourglass now though so I can force myself to take advantage of it while I can. Interesting thing, here in the Hatsukaichi area it was my friend Simone's birthday on the 18th. My birthday was the 19th. Rob, also in Hatsukaichi celebrated his on the 21st, and another fellow Hatsukaichian Mark had his birthday yesterday. (Also noteworthy, a girl in Japanese class has her bday on the 20th, today is my grandpas birthday, and Jennifer Ikemoto's is the 25th.) That's a LOT of birthdays nearly all in a row. To celebrate, we went out to dinner. We went out on Saturday, my birthday. We chose that date cause it's Saturday, it was good for everyone, but I like to think it's because I'm so darn special. We've been planning it since last year when we found out when everyone's special day was. Turned out not to be so special. It felt like a pretty ordinary day. And I left the after party early cause my guests needed rest. Lianne, Jen, and her boyfriend Matt came to Japan on Friday. And they're leaving on the 25th. Already they've seen most of the sights and we've eaten LOTS of food. Too bad it's getting hot and humid here in Japan. It's nearing the end of the rainy season so it's partially sunny most days but it's muggy almost ALWAYS. Four people in my place doesn't help either. Just the other day it was 75% humidity INSIDE my apartment! Even though it's tight, I'm glad I can provide an opportunity for people to see not only tourist Japan, but beyond.
